Real Steel, Africa’s Largest Tractors is the title of this English-language book that describes the complete history of the South African ACO tractors. It also includes references to and comparisons with other articulated tractors that were widely used in South Africa, particularly during the 1990s.

The book is richly illustrated with hundreds of original photographs from various private archives. Well-known, but also lesser-known ACO tractors are featured, including the two-wheel-drive models and dumper versions. This book is a pleasure to browse through for its photographs, but thanks to the author’s extensive research, it is also highly informative — definitely more than just a photo book.
